Who we are
The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC) delivers digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services for the European Parliament.
The trainee will be part of LCO Coordination (CYBERCO) and the European Parliament Cybersecurity Emergency Response Team (EP-CERT).
EP-CERT coordinates the response to and the mitigation of cybersecurity incidents (such as data breaches, malware outbreaks, and system vulnerabilities being actively exploited) in cooperation with other EP stakeholders.
Your tasks
The trainee will focus on helping improving incident detection and response capabilities from one part and threat intelligence building capabilities through analysis of threat detections on the other. The trainee will assist in performing activities related to various aspects of incident response including:
- Help with the investigation of incidents, production and handling of indicators of compromise to be used to support detecting and hunting activities;
- Active participation in security products evaluation;
- Assistance with documenting and creating reports for recommendations, mitigations and defenses in the field of cybersecurity including AI cybersecurity aspects;
- Assistance with in-depth research and tracking of the latest adversarial techniques and technologies including AI emerging threats;
- Forensic investigation of mobile and desktop devices;
- Research in forensic related subjects in iOS and Android.
You are
You have:
- Obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
- A degree in IT, IT security or related sciences;
- Understanding of basic IT security concepts, standards, policies, procedures, tools and controls;
- Understanding of networking, email technologies and software development;
- Prior experience working with Windows or Linux OS;
- The ability to work both independently and within a team;
- A strong desire to continually learn and improve;
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
