Your tasks

What you will do

As a trainee in the audio team of the Audiovisual Translation (AVT) Unit, you will support the work of the assistant producers and sound technicians in the production of audio content. You will be involved in all five steps of the podcast production process: script adaptation, recording, audio editing, publication and distribution.

You will gain hands-on experience in technical tasks such as audio editing with Audacity, voice coaching for podcast recording and the creation of music templates. You will also learn how to adapt existing communication materials into podcast scripts that make EU topics accessible, engaging and easy to understand.

You will help maintain and grow a network of European partner radio stations, keeping existing partners engaged while identifying new ones.

You will help publish and share audio content making sure it is accessible to the public.

Finally, you will also support the team with administrative and coordination tasks, gaining insight into how daily workflows are organised.

A unique learning experience

Being a trainee in DG TRAD is an opportunity not to be missed. You will be joining a major institutional language service provider, and work alongside language professionals who localise content into the 24 EU official languages (and others).

Joining the AVT Unit means adding new skills and gaining precious insights into scriptwriting and audio-editing concepts. Your supervisor and other team members will be on hand to catch you up on the key industry standards and practices and help onboard you into our multilingual workflow

As a member of the AVT Unit’s core team, you will be in the thick of the action from day one. You will help the team develop and produce audio products in all EU languages plus Ukrainian; create partnerships with radios across Europe to help distribute podcasts; and write scripts based on pre-existing Parliament content.

Working for the AVT Unit is not just about learning or gaining experience. Your Head of Unit will also be looking to leverage your existing skills so that you can be as impactful as possible.
