Your tasks

As a trainee in the Planning Unit within the Directorate-General for Translation and Clear Language, you will have the opportunity to be a contact point for, and to liaise with, translation requesting services throughout the European Parliament, with special focus on translation requesting clients pertaining to the organisation of legislative and administrative documents, plenary proceedings and audio-visual tasks on one hand, and translation-providing services (Translation Units), on the other.

Trainees in the Planning Unit are allocated a certain range of requesting services and document types in order to process translation requests in terms of, inter alia, approving admissibility, format and length requirements, and negotiating deadlines, depending on political priorities and translation capacity in Translation Units.

You will work in a matrix-based system, covering the needs of the three services of the Planning Unit: the Legislative and Administrative Translation Request Service, the Presidency and Plenary Translation Request Service and the Clear Language and Audio-visual Translation Request Service, under the guidance of your supervisor and other team members who will advise and teach you the current administrative and translation workflows, and act as your back-up when needed.

Through your traineeship you will have the opportunity to learn how the translation workflow of the most multilingual international and European institution works, and to benefit as much as possible from being part of it.
