Who we are
The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC) delivers digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services for the European Parliament.
DG ITEC comprises five directorates:
- Customers and Digital Workplace Directorate (CARE): The directorate focuses on customer care and the user experience. As single point of contact for all users and corporate customers, this directorate hosts all DG ITEC teams providing direct user support services, including management of IT equipment and videoconferencing systems. The directorate is also responsible for the catalogue of services, management of digital workplace, unified printing, standard configuration and conducting Service Level Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding with our customers;
- Cybersecurity and IT Governance (GOV): The directorate safeguards a robust, compliant, sustainable and secure IT ecosystem and architecture. It facilitates the work of the whole DG ITEC, ensuring participative, consistent and transparent decision making and implementation. It is responsible for transversal tasks, including enterprise architecture, obsolescence and legacy management, risk management business continuity, and quality management. It is responsible for the compliance with EU Regulations and the governance for cybersecurity, AI, interoperability, innovation and digital accessibility. It contains the Programme Management Office in charge of the global ITEC portfolio;
- Business Solutions (BUSOL): The directorate provides innovative software and data solutions for business needs, implementing the 're-use before buy, buy before build' policy. It provides business and technical analysis of new demands, ensures cybersecurity-by-design, guarantees quality assurance including digital accessibility testing, supports the evolution of legacy applications, implements and maintains platforms, and safeguards a coherent approach to data management across platforms;
- Infrastructure and Security Operations (INSO): The directorate is responsible for the telecommunication network and the IT infrastructure both in the cloud and on-premises. It safeguards cybersecurity, ensuring observability, prevention and detection of cyberattacks. It is responsible for the cybersecurity testing. It ensures reaction and recovery of IT incidents, outages and cyberattacks;
- Sourcing and Organisational Management (SOMA): The directorate ensures the optimal and strategic use of corporate resources. It hosts horizontal services, including human resources, finances and procurement, learning and development, and organisational engagement. In addition, publishing, printing and proofreading services are also part of SOMA.
The Portfolio Management and Compliance Unit operates under the Cybersecurity and IT Governance directorate. It manages and oversees the IT projects and assets portfolio, including transformation programs (e.g., the sustainability program), customer-driven business solutions delivery projects (via the demand management process), and technical infrastructure projects (driven by technological changes and managed centrally). The unit also provides legal advice on applicable EU regulations for IT operations, covering cybersecurity, AI, data protection, digital accessibility, and interoperability.
Your tasks
As a trainee, you will build a centralized IT asset management dashboard. It will pull together and analyse data from hardware, software, cloud platforms, and our configuration management database (CMDB). Your work will automate checks for data gaps and inconsistencies, ensuring compliance with European Parliament IT standards. You will streamline data collection, integration, and visualization to strengthen CMDB governance and improve overall data quality. In the end, you will create clear reports on issues and risks. This will simplify audits, boost data reliability, and help with smart IT asset decisions.
You are
The trainee will develop a centralised IT asset management dashboard, integrating data from hardware, software, cloud services and the CMDB. Responsibilities include automating detection of data gaps and inconsistencies, enhancing data quality through advanced technologies, producing compliance reports aligned with European Parliament IT standards, and facilitating more efficient audits and strategic decision-making, all while upholding the highest standards of reliability and clear communication with stakeholders.
The trainee should possess a basic IT background, such as studies in computer science or information systems, coupled with a strong interest in data analysis, visualisation using tools like Power BI or Excel, and automation with tools such as Power Automate and PowerShell. The trainee has obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship. Professional proficiency in English is essential. Familiarity with any European language is advantageous within our multilingual team, fostering cooperation across diverse groups.
