Your tasks
As an Estonian linguistic trainee in the Directorate for Clear Language and Audiovisual Translation, you will be joining a pool of Intercultural and Language Professionals (ILPs) in the Directorate. ‘ILP’ is our term for a broad and forward-looking translation role, which will see you perform a wide variety of linguistic tasks. Not only will you have the opportunity to translate into Estonian a range of texts intended for the general public, such as press releases, newsletters and audio scripts, but also to learn how to make them accessible to all European citizens. Indeed, you may also get the chance to subtitle audiovisual material in your native language. You could also be asked to adapt or modify texts in various formats, for example, audio files and website content, and possibly even record audio products.
You will work under the supervision of the language professionals in your team, who will guide you, teach you the current workflows and procedures, and revise your work as necessary. This will give you the opportunity to hone your linguistic skills and reap the greatest benefits from your traineeship. In addition, you will have access to several training opportunities throughout your traineeship to further develop your skills.
