Who we are

As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament (MEPs) to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

As part of Parliament's commitment to honoring journalists who were killed during the exercise of their work, DG COMM's Directorate for Media offers its Schuman traineeships in memory of Ján Kuciak, the Slovakian investigative journalist who was murdered in February 2018.

Within the Directorate for Media, the Video Production Unit supports both internal and external EP communication campaigns with its in-house creative storytelling video production capacity (including 2D and 3D animations), as well as its capabilities in sound design and music composition, FabLab crafted objects in small series (e.g. for signage) and photography service (studio or other).

We are based both in Brussels and Luxembourg and we are a team of video artists (script writers, film directors, cameramen, video editors, colour and sound specialists, designers, animators, photographers) and project managers. During your traineeship you will play an active role in the whole process of video and photo production: preproduction (brainstorming with the clients, creative conception, scriptwriting), production (lighting, camera setups, sound set-ups, shooting, producer/direction assistance), postproduction (video editing, special effects, colour correction, sound mixing), and general photography.

Your tasks

Should you choose to work with us in Luxembourg, you will assist the video team in the production and post-production phases of video/film projects, including setting up equipment, recording video and sound, editing, and colour correction. You will also contribute to corporate photography tasks, including portrait photography, group photography, indoor and outdoor photography, and participate in meetings to define requirements and plan projects, while sharing your knowledge and experience with your colleagues in a creative and open-minded manner.

You are

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic candidate who is passionate about video production and photography and has a good knowledge of camera settings and cinematography (lighting, composition), as well as editing and colour grading (DaVinci Resolve). The successful candidate will have basic knowledge of script drafting, narrative techniques, and creative storytelling, mainly for short informative or corporate productions, as well as basic knowledge of 2D animation design (After Effects or Fusion) and sound recording. Knowledge of AI tools for image creation and enhancement, special effects, voice translation, voice-to-text, and text-to-voice conversion, as well as AI tools for pre- and post-production would be an asset. The successful candidate must have good organisational skills, be reliable in meeting deadlines and be willing to work in a multicultural team. A good command of English is required, and a good level of French is recommended.

You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.

The European Parliament is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace. We welcome all candidates, regardless of their geographical, racial or ethnic origin, political or religious beliefs, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, civil status, or family situation.
