If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!
The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, the DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
The team of the Director-General for Personnel assists her in all matters relating to the responsibility of DG PERS as described above. You will be fully integrated in a small and dedicated team, working jointly from Luxembourg and Brussels, while you will be based in Brussels. Your tasks
Tasks of our trainee will include:
- Administrative support and information and communication management: Supporting the team of the Director-General for Personnel in various daily administrative matters, such as the preparation of electronic/ paper files and individual notes and carrying out secretarial tasks (word processing, reproducing and scanning documents, forwarding mail, keeping lists, etc.);
- Meeting management: Preparing, participating in and following up on various meetings (in person and/or hybrid/remote meetings), including logistical aspects of welcoming visitors, and preparing the room and accompanying guests around;
- Event management: Supporting the development and organisation of events for Parliament staff, including logistical aspects;
- Communication management: Carrying out documentary searches (Internet/Intranet/databases) to help prepare internal communications. Support the preparation of presentations (including power point) on various HR matters;
- Potentially, depending on your background and interests, assisting in preparing briefings and background notes e.g. by doing preliminary research on certain topics.
You are
Someone who:
- Has obtained a Vocational education qualification (EQF level 3, 4 or 5) or a University degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
- Has a deep interest in supporting staff members in a large organisation in their daily work, thus contributing to our overall mission to help make European Democracy happen;
- Has good communication and writing skills;
- Is accurate and creative, shows initiative and likes to bring in their own ideas;
- Is reliable and enjoys working in a team;
- Speaks good English (any other language would be considered a plus);
- Shows continuous improvement, flexibility, organisational and planning skills;
- Respects deadlines and confidentiality requirements.
