Who we are
The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament's budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament's accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament's political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament's administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. The Human Resources and Organisation Unit (HROU) develops DG FINS' Human Capital, improving employee capabilities, performance and experience. It provides key activities in a decentralised manner in cooperation with other services of the EP. Among other missions, the HROU contributes to the implementation of the strategic execution framework, selects and integrates new staff, supports employee growth, inclusion and wellbeing and provides administrative support to colleagues. You will join the small and diverse HR team of DG FINS, engaging yourself in various actions that we undertake aimed at improving the management of human resources and focusing on empowering staff.
Your tasks
As an HROU trainee, you will actively contribute to strengthening our recruitment processes and HR initiatives. Your main focus will be on modern recruitment techniques, AI-driven tools, and innovative methods to attract, select, and assess candidates. You will be involved in:
- Supporting and developing enhanced recruitment methods, including the use of digital tools and platforms;
- Assisting in the use of social media and digital platforms to strengthen employer branding and outreach;
- Screening and pre-selecting CVs, applying structured and transparent criteria;
- Contributing to the design and improvement of selection and assessment methods, including soft skills and behavioural evaluation;
- Supporting other HR initiatives.
This traineeship will give you hands-on experience with cutting-edge recruitment techniques, including AI-enhanced tools, social media campaigns, and innovative assessment methods. You will strengthen your analytical, organisational, and communication skills while contributing to HR practices in a European and multicultural context.
You are
- A university graduate with an academic background in Human Resources, Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, or Social Sciences;
- Curious about digital innovation in HR, including the use of AI recruitment platforms and data-driven approaches;
- Interested, or even experienced, in modern recruitment practices and eager to explore new digital approaches;
- Proactive, creative, and capable of bringing fresh ideas to a fast-paced, multicultural environment;
- Emotionally intelligent and attentive to interpersonal dynamics;
- An excellent communicator, both orally and in writing;
- Fluent in English and/or French, our main working languages (knowledge of other EU languages is an asset).
