Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament’s accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. Within DG FINS, the FMS Competence Centre is part of the Directorate for Budget and Financial Services. It is responsible for implementing SAP solutions to manage the European Parliament’s budget as well as Members’ (MEPs) financial entitlements.

 

Your tasks

  • You will join the FMS (Financial Management System) support team, contributing to the unit's mission of enhancing the quality of user support;
  • Your main responsibilities will include preparing learning materials for end users such as user guides, supporting documents, and interactive simulations (videos) using SAP Enable Now. Through this work, you will gain valuable insights into the financial and procurement processes of the European Parliament;
  • In addition, you will take part in various training sessions related to FMS, further strengthening your knowledge of both the system and its related applications.

Depending on the needs of the team, you may also be involved in:

  • Assisting in the testing of new FMS features prior to rollout to ensure usability;
  • Supporting end users directly by responding to questions and helping troubleshoot issues;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement and modernisation of digital learning resources.

 

You are

  • You are a well-organised and highly curious person with a strong interest in finance and IT systems, even if you do not yet have in-depth knowledge in these areas;
  • You have excellent communication skills and you are outstanding at transforming complex information into clear, efficient, and appealing learning materials;
  • You are motivated to work in the international and multicultural environment of the European Parliament, and you thrive in diverse teams;
  • You think systematically, learn new IT systems with ease, and are able to work autonomously when needed;
  • You are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone, take initiative, and contribute creative ideas to improve processes and materials;
  • Prior knowledge of SAP is not required, but will be considered an asset.
