Who we are

The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC) is a trusted partner that empowers the European Parliament by delivering digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services.

The trainee will join the Directorate for Business Solutions within the Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (DG ITEC), more specifically the Solution Design and Quality Assurance Unit (BUSOL), in the Technical Analysis and Interface Harmonisation Service (TAUH).  

This service operates in three main areas:

  • Technical analysis;
  • Interface harmonisation;
  • Market research and project management support, including preliminary market studies, business process analysis, requirements management, project methodologies, and software selection.

Key deliverables include software selection projects, maintenance and evolution of the software catalogue, business process modelling, cost-benefit analysis support, and feasibility studies for new IT projects.

 

Your tasks

Working under the guidance of their supervisor, the trainee will:

  • Support business solution selection projects, including documentation, IT security, accessibility, data protection, and AI compliance aspects;
  • Conduct market surveys for software in specific technological domains, using internal tools and the software catalogue;
  • Participate in internal Agile meetings (sprints, retrospectives, programme increments) and present progress;
  • Collaborate with team members, share information, and contribute to improving departmental procedures;
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the software catalogue and follow up on ongoing software selection processes;  
  • Review and improve documentation for internal processes;
  • Support project managers in developing the new version of the software catalogue.

 

You are

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds an IT degree of at least a three-year study cycle;
  • Has an interest in current IT technologies and standards;  
  • Has participated in a complete project (academic or professional);  
  • Is proficient in English (preferably) or French; knowledge of both is an advantage;
  • Is skilled in using the Office suite (browsing, email, word processing, presentations, spreadsheets);
  • Communicates effectively with both native and non-native English or French speakers;
  • Is motivated to work in a multicultural environment within the European Parliament administration.
