If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!
The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
The Directorate for HR Support and Social Services coordinates six departments in the field of occupational health, well-being and inclusion and diversity. You will be a member of a small team, consisting of director, advisor and assistant, and will be working in close cooperation with colleagues of other departments under the direct responsibility of the Directorate.
The Directorate for HR Support and Social Services has the following mission:
- We create policies that promote a culture of non-discrimination, inclusivity and acceptance, building on the strengths and talents of each staff member and helping them to be at their best;
- We develop and implement projects and policies in the field of occupational health and well-being, and we support all HR departments to make sure that the working environment in our Institution is safe, healthy, and engaging, and conducive to staff well-being;
- We organise education and awareness-raising activities targeting both staff and management to empower them to make well-informed decisions about health, well-being and inclusion for themselves, their teams, and the whole institution, while providing them with workplace resources to do so;
- We promote good health and ensure that the staff members have at their disposal teams of professional health workers who can provide them with adequate and timely support and care in all areas of occupational health (medical, psychological, social).
Your tasks
You will:
- Take part in the implementation of health and well-being activities of the Directorate and, based on need, direct involvement in specific department activities in the same area;
- Take part in the execution of the activities under the EP's mental health programme;
- Provide support with organisation of events, webinars and training courses on topics under the responsibility of the Directorate;
- Prepare communication materials, such as articles, Intranet content, brochures, etc.;
- Conduct research on best practices in the field and proposing new solutions and developments where possible.
You are
If you:
- (Ideally) have a background in organisational psychology, human resources or related field; other profiles will also be considered, especially those with background in marketing, communication and journalism;
- Are interested in occupational health, well-being, and inclusion matters and wish to further develop in this field;
- Are conscientious, detail-oriented and able to carry out tasks independently;
- Have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written;
- Have a sense of initiative and ability to solve problems on your own;
- Are respectful, friendly and like to work in a team;
- Have an excellent knowledge of English and good or basic knowledge of French;
