Who we are

The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC) delivers digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services.

Legislative and Custom Solutions Unit (LEGCUST) is responsible for developing and maintaining a number of information systems supporting the execution of the legislative procedures. These applications are typically built based on a Java/SpringBoot/Oracle technical stack by internal teams composed of developers, analysts, architects and project managers.

 

Your tasks

The goal of the traineeship is to strengthen ICT security within the application maintenance and development teams, as well as assess and follow-up on the general alignment of our systems with technical standards and strategic goals. 

The primary goal is to enhance security compliance and awareness while identifying key actions to mitigate risks.

Key tasks include:

  • Developing a roadmap to improve security compliance and awareness across teams.
  • Prioritising applications for security testing based on established criteria.
  • Follow-up results with testing teams and following-up on resolution with maintenance teams.
  • Collaborating with application teams and other stakeholders to understand issues and to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Other tasks:

  • Assess compliance of our IT systems with other internal technical standards and/or strategic goals.
  • Discuss and collaborate with applications teams about status of their IT system regarding different technical standards and follow-up on actions to align if necessary.
  • Prepare reports for management. 

This traineeship will provide hands-on experience in ICT security strategy and technical compliance with while contributing to the unit’s overall cybersecurity resilience and general modernisation of its ICT systems portfolio.

 

You are

  • We are looking for a dynamic and proactive trainee with experience or training in Java development, application lifecycle management and ICT security. 
  • The selected candidate will have a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance frameworks is important as well as familiarity with IT systems, application development and security testing concepts.
  • The selected candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with excellent communication and relationship skills. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, analytical, and capable of working collaboratively with various teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of English is a must. Any knowledge of French will be considered an asset.
