Who we are

The Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics (DG INLO) is responsible for overseeing the European Parliament's vast infrastructure portfolio, which spans around 1.3 million square meters of building space across Europe. This includes a variety of tasks that are crucial to ensuring the smooth functioning and sustainability of the Parliament's operations. DG INLO's responsibilities go beyond just building management; it is also in charge of a range of essential services such as catering, mail distribution, furniture management, and transport for Parliament Members and staff. This comprehensive approach ensures that all physical and logistical needs are met, supporting the European Parliament’s political activities in a sustainable way.

Within the Directorate General for Infrastructure and Logistics, the Insurance Unit is in charge of various insurance contracts covering the buildings, vehicles and civil liability of the European Parliament.

Our Unit is divided between Luxembourg and Brussels; the fact that it is a very small team has the effect that all its members are called upon to make an active daily contribution to current affairs.

Your tasks

As part of the management of the various insurance policies for which the Unit is responsible, the trainee will contribute to the execution of the contracts in all their forms, including the updating of tables, lists and various data that are the basis of the different coverages.

This will also allow the trainee to familiarize himself/herself with the internal structures of the European Parliament.

What makes the activity of our Unit rewarding, interesting and dynamic is the discussions and analyses concerning either insurance coverages required for the Institution or possible claims that often need specific solutions. Thus, the trainee will be able to participate actively in discussions and analyses in a wide variety of areas.

The trainee will have the opportunity to make numerous contacts with colleagues from other departments, but also with our external contacts.

You are

As part of its activities, the Insurance Unit would like to offer a professional development opportunity to a motivated and curious person, possibly a lawyer by training.

However, the variety of areas affected by insurance files means that other training courses can well meet the needs of the tasks entrusted: economics, finance, engineering or architecture diploma, but also general administration may be accepted areas of knowledge. A language degree may also be suitable if you want to put your language skills into practice.

The trainee will be based in Luxembourg.

The Unit works mainly in French and in English: it is essential to have at least a very good knowledge of one of these two languages and a basic knowledge of the other.

Prior knowledge in the field of insurance is not required.

The European Parliament is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace. We welcome all candidates, regardless of their geographical, racial or ethnic origin, political or religious beliefs, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, civil status, or family situation.
