Who we are
If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!
The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, the DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
The Strategic HR Planning Unit is the main unit in Parliament who manages the alignment of the human resources with the strategic objectives of the institution. The unit has an advisory and guiding role for the benefit of the Directorates-General (DGs) and staff members alike, supporting the Secretariat’s evolution into more dynamic, flexible and forward-looking ways of managing people and resources.
As our unit is receiving an increasing number of data requests from inside and outside Parliament and the data needs of the DGs are becoming more complex, we are expanding our HR reporting and data analytics capabilities to support the whole Secretariat with good quality data. One of the goals of our unit is to develop a specialised HR data hub in Luxembourg. For this reason, it is a great moment for an interested university graduate to be part of reorganising the way DG Personnel provides and presents HR data and building the new way of reporting and analysing the HR data.
We are a team of 12 people (10 colleagues are located in Brussels and 2 are located in Luxembourg). We work with all the DGs and with HR matters involving the whole institution, so you will gain a good overview of the working of the European Parliament.
