Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament’s accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. The Members' Attendance and Travel Expenses Unit is responsible for the entire management of Members' financial rights within its area of competence. It is in charge of receiving, verifying and paying Members' subsistence allowances, travel expenses and the fees relating to their professional training, in due time and in compliance with the rules in force.

 

Your tasks

  • Assistance in workflow for reimbursement of Members' travel and subsistence expenses, in particular for checks on invoices and payments;
  • Support in the preparation of dossiers related to travel and subsistence expenses and control of their legality, regularity and compliance with the current rules and regulations;
  • Based on the business experience gained during the first part of the traineeship, support the project manager in understanding and reorganising business process while trying to facilitate the feasibility study projects for new solutions (in a view to ensuring the transition to SAP);
  • In this context, understand an organisational environment, identify and model process flows, participate in feasibility studies in order to determine a TO-BE, perform a fit/gap analysis to identify gaps, participate in project meetings and document the follow-ups.

 

You are

We are looking for a dynamic candidate with a taste for finance and with very good analytical skills, eager to learn and ready to take on challenges; someone who is not only quick at grasping problems but is also creative in coming forward with solutions.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven knowledge in the field of business process and/or project management;
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely one’s ideas/information;
  • Experience with expense management software and/or with SAP solution (any familiarity with SAP Concur will be considered as a strong asset);
  • An innovative approach (knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence would be appreciated but not required), solution-oriented and a profile capable of quickly learning business concepts are desired;
  • The ability to interpret complex data and extract relevant insights would be an asset;
  • The ability to work in a team and collaborate with experts from other disciplines;
  • Proficiency in professional English is a must and proficiency in French is an additional asset.
