The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
We are the IT Unit! We do not need a long, fancy name to show what we do—we’re passionate about technology and solving real problems. Our focus is on driving digital transformation in Human Resources by leveraging emerging technologies such as AI, RPA, low-code platforms, and VR immersive experiences. We have built a decentralised capacity to analyse, design, and implement software solutions in compliance with the cybersecurity framework, EP’s technological standards, and personal data protection obligations. Innovation is at the heart of our work, ensuring HR processes are smarter, more efficient, and future-proof. Technology is our tool, and transformation is our mission!
Your tasks
Your tasks will be selected from the list below based on your interests and skills:
- Analyse the current utilisation of eAssistant, an AI-powered inquiry system, and explore potential extensions for its application;
- Gain an understanding of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and implement new use cases to automate large-scale manual processes;
- Learn to develop using a low-code platform, such as Oracle APEX or ServiceNow, and contribute to the implementation of a small-scale application;
- Explore the use of Virtual Reality immersive experiences within our unit and assess the feasibility of developing new modules;
- Examine our HR data warehouse and identify opportunities for enhancement and optimisation.

- Hold a university degree in IT, Engineering, or Science with a focus on technology;
- Possess basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, Java, SQL) and a willingness to learn new development frameworks;

- Have strong analytical skills to assess processes and propose digital solutions;
- Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
