  • to enable the European Parliament to meet its commitment to the policy of multilingualism, designed to ensure the equal treatment of languages and permitting all citizens of the European Union to communicate with the institutions and have access to the documents of those institutions in their own language;
  • to support the Members of the European Parliament and its administration in their multilingual communication with citizens by providing high-quality, modern, multilingual services in text, audio and video and ensuring that content is clear and in all the official languages of the EU;
  • to ensure that all these services are supplied as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Your tasks

As a trainee in the Presidency and Plenary Translation Request Service of the Planning Unit within the Directorate-General for Translation, you will have the opportunity to be a contact point for, and to liaise with, translation requesting services throughout the European Parliament, with special focus on clients pertaining to the organisation of plenary proceedings, on one hand, and translation-providing services (Translation Units), on the other. Trainees in the Planning Unit are allocated a certain range of requesting services and document types in order to process translation requests in terms of, inter alia, approving admissibility, format and length requirements, and negotiating deadlines, depending on political priorities and translation capacity in Translation Units.

You will work under the supervision of a mentor who will guide you and teach you the current administrative and translation workflows, and act as your back-up when needed.
