Who we are

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality and diversity;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

We are the Staff Recruitment Unit, responsible for the recruitment of five different types of staff members. You will be working closely with a dynamic team of professionals dealing with the recruitment of staff for the Directorates-General and Political Groups of the European Parliament. The specific role of the Staff Recruitment Unit starts after the selection procedure and covers the phase beginning with the employment offer, defining the salary grade, to the issuing of the contract.

Through this traineeship, you will learn how the intricate and sensitive process of recruitment of staff plays out from the reception of the recruitment request from the services of the European Parliament to the taking up of duties of the selected candidate.

You will have the opportunity to develop your creativity skills and grow professionally alongside the members of a client-oriented and hard-working multinational team.

 

Your tasks

YOUR TASKS:

  • Familiarising yourself with the relevant inter-institutional, institutional, and internal rules and procedures governing the recruitment of staff;
  • Mapping the relevant processes of the unit, thus getting an in-depth knowledge of all its activities;
  • Contributing to the whole cycle of recruitment: processing of recruitment files, calculation of experience, renewal, change of status or early termination;
  • Supporting staff members in their daily work, in order to ensure a high-quality service for the Directorates-General and Political Groups;
  • Drafting guides;
  • Project(s) - drawing up of recruitment handbooks and procedures relevant to the sector of assignment.

 

You are

YOU:

  • Have been awarded a complete university degree (3 years minimum);
  • Have good drafting skills;
  • Are comfortable with a wide range of IT software programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and would like to deepen your knowledge of them;
  • Are keen to use different IT tools;
  • Have experience in preparing user guides, manuals and checklists, presentations or instructions;
  • Have a very good knowledge of English and a good knowledge of French;
  • Have good organisational skills, both individually and as a team member;
  • Like to work in a dynamic team and are proactive member thereof;
  • Are able to respect deadlines.
