Who we are

If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality and diversity;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

We are the Career Development and Ethics Unit and we are in charge of three different fields: administrative management of the career of the staff members (job changes, unpaid leave, secondment etc.), staff reports and promotion and ethics.

The Ethics sector is in charge of management of the ethical statutory obligations of the staff, such as requests for authorisation for outside activities, notifications of publications, declarations of standing for elections or holding a mandate, as well as prevention of conflict of interest.

 

Your tasks

We are looking for a trainee for the Ethics sector, who, under supervision of the Head of Sector, will be in charge of:

  • Revising and updating relevant reference documents;
  • Contributing to development of the training initiatives in the field of Ethics;
  • Contributing to the sector’s communication efforts and proposing initiatives to raise staff awareness in the fields of ethics;
  • Providing support for the sector's core tasks (evaluating potential of conflict of interest, extracting statistics, research of information).

 

You are

You:

  • Are recognised for your rigour and organisation and have great analytical and synthesis skills;
  • Are proactive and have a high sense of responsibility and confidentiality;
  • Speak English and French (any other EU language is an asset);
  • Have good communication skills (orally and in writing);
  • Have a very good command of IT tools (in particular MS Office);
  • Enjoy working in a team;
  • Are adaptable and flexible.
