Unit for Asia, Australia and New Zealand - Post B

The Directorate-General for External Policies (DG EXPO) is made up of four directorates: Committees, Regions (covering interparliamentary delegations), Resources and Democracy Support. 

Staff of DG EXPO form a European team of advisers supporting the European Parliament's President and political bodies in their work on the EU's external policies. Colleagues in DG EXPO provide advice on matters of substance and procedure, liaise with other EU institutions and manage resources. The focus is on legislation, parliamentary oversight of the European Commission and EEAS, and support for parliamentary democracy. Most of the work is done in Brussels.

The Asia, Australia and New Zealand Unit of the European Parliament, in charge of organizing the work of 10 standing single or multi-countries delegations for relations with 31 Parliaments across Asia and Oceania (AANZ). The team is composed of about 12 dedicated members focusing on how to bridge the European Parliament and AANZ countries. 

Please note that AANZ Unit is not in charge of Asian Middle-East countries and its area of competence starts with Iran (included) and Central Asia and covers South and South-East Asia, China, the Korean Peninsula, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

• Support for Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and AANZ desk-officers;
• Preparation of policy briefings;
• Logistic support in organizing events;
• Assistance to incoming AANZ delegations;
• Contacts with NGOs, think tanks and citizens interested in the Unit's activity;
• Candidates with nationality of countries covered by AANZ are welcome.

You have:

• Multi-tasking and flexible approach to daily work;
• Personal interest and/or solid professional background on EU, Asian, Australian and New Zealander issues is required;
• Fluency in English and possibly in another EU languages;
• Experience in working in civil society networks is an asset.
