Internal Communication Unit: Audiovisual and Multimedia production

IDEA is the Internal Communication Unit in the Directorate for Innovation and Central Services (DISC) that comes under the direct supervision of the Secretary-General and serves the whole administration, Parliament's governing bodies and Members. DISC’s mission is to provide expertise and services, ensure compliance, drive sustainable innovation and overcome organisational silos in a number of areas.

Within this frame, IDEA’s mission is to produce creative audiovisual and multimedia products (videos, films, animations, sound recording, photos, design, branding, etc.) for internal communication purposes and occasionally external too. We create impactful products that concern the whole European Parliament's administration. We are based both in Brussels and Luxembourg and we are a team of video artists (script writers, film directors, cameramen, video editors, colour and sound specialists, designers, animators, photographers) and project managers.

During your traineeship you will play an active role in the whole process of video and photo production: Preproduction (brainstorming with the clients, creative conception, scriptwriting), Production (lighting, camera setups, sound set-ups, shooting, producer/direction assistance), Postproduction (video editing, special effects, colour correction, sound mixing), and general photography.

Should you choose to work with us, you would:

• Assist the video team in video/film production and post-production phases, including the setting up of equipment, video-recording, audio-recording, video-editing, audio-editing and colour correction;
• Contribute to the execution of corporate photography tasks i.e. portrait photography, group photography, indoors and outdoors;
• Participate in meetings to define requirements and project planning;
• Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues with creativity and open-mindedness.

An enthusiastic and energetic individual who has a keen interest in video making and photography:

• Good knowledge of camera settings;
• Good knowledge of cinematography: lighting, composition;
• Good knowledge of editing and colour grading (DaVinci Resolve);
• Basic knowledge of script drafting, narrative techniques and creative storytelling for mainly short corporative/informational productions;
• Basic knowledge of 2D animation design (After Effects or Fusion);
• Basic knowledge of sound recording;
• Knowledge of AI tools for image creation and enhancement, special effects, voice translation, voice to and from text, AI pre- and post-production tools is a plus.

The successful candidate should have good organisational skills, reliability on deadlines and be willing to work in a multi-cultural team.

A proficient knowledge of English is required, and a good level of French is recommended.
