European Parliament Liaison Office in Spain - Post C: Youth Engagement and Institutional Communication

The European Parliament Liaison Office in Spain (EPLO) provides information about the role and powers of the European Parliament, Spanish Members of the European Parliament and their activities, and the issues currently under consideration by Parliament that are relevant to Spain and the European Union as a whole.

The EPLO's work covers press and digital communication, stakeholder outreach and events, youth engagement, and political analysis. We are looking for a trainee who will focus on youth engagement, educational activities and institutional communication tailored to different target groups. The trainee will work closely with the Institutional Relations, Events and Political Insight trainee on communication events such as seminars, training sessions and EPLO events involving young people and other stakeholder groups.

The main tasks will include:

• Contributing to the design, organisation, communication and follow-up of youth and educational activities, seminars, training sessions and other EPLO events;
• Supporting the EPLO's engagement with schools, universities, teachers, youth organisations, students and other educational and youth networks;
• Promoting participation and community-building through European Parliament programmes and platforms;
• Adapting institutional messages, materials and activities to the needs of different target groups and developing both online and in-person engagement initiatives;
• Helping to maintain contact databases, prepare targeted mailings and support communication with participant communities;
• Drafting background notes, briefings, presentations, educational materials and content for events and digital channels;
• Coordinating with the press and social media team to communicate joint activities and reach younger audiences effectively;
• Gathering participation data and feedback to help assess activities and improve future outreach.

• A graduate in Communication, Political Science, European Studies, International Relations, Public Administration or a related field, with a strong interest in youth participation, civic education and EU affairs, and a clear commitment to the European Union and its values - you have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship; 
• You have excellent communication and drafting skills and can translate institutional information into clear, accessible and engaging content for different audiences;
• You enjoy working with young people and educational communities and are comfortable engaging with a wide range of partners;
• You are creative, proactive, flexible and well organised, with strong critical-thinking and teamwork skills;
• Previous professional or voluntary experience in youth engagement, institutional communication, journalism or event organisation would be an asset;
• Familiarity with social media, contact databases, customer relationship management systems, content management systems, mailing platforms and event-management tools would also be welcome.

Languages: Native-speaker equivalent/C2 level or equivalent in Spanish is essential for the position, as most contacts and communications are inside the country. C1 level in English is also required for non-national contacts. Any other EU language may be considered an asset.
