Who we are

The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC) delivers digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services. We are a cross-cutting team supporting DG ITEC in governing technology, data and Artificial Intelligence, shaping enterprise architecture and coordinating sustainable, secure and quality-driven ICT development.

The mission of the IT Governance and Enterprise Architecture Unit (ITGOV) is to unify, manage and evolve the IT governance framework, policies and processes providing central IT governance services for how the European Parliament manages, and uses its information and communication technology resources.

Our work connects strategic governance, enterprise architecture, business analysis, standards, technology lifecycle management, sustainability, quality management, knowledge management and implementation of particular corporate actions.

Through coordination, analysis and internal consultancy, we help ensure that corporate decisions, programmes and projects remain aligned with ITEC strategic objectives, target architecture, standards and long-term sustainability.

 

Your tasks

We are looking for an intern to join our IT Governance and Enterprise Architecture team. Your main responsibilities would include:

Team integration and coordination

  • Integrate with the team work organization and coordination routines;
  • Participate in team meetings and planning activities;
  • Collaborate with colleagues working across governance, architecture, quality and sustainability topics.

Learning the unit's domains

  • Learn the essential elements of the unit's domains;
  • Become familiar with IT, Data and AI governance processes and governance bodies;
  • Learn about enterprise architecture, capability management, standards and architecture governance;
  • Become familiar with technology obsolescence, sustainability, quality management and knowledge management.

IT governance and data/AI governance

  • Support selected IT governance and Data/AI governance activities;
  • Help prepare governance meetings, background material and follow-up of decisions and actions;
  • Support documentation and analysis related to the portfolio of AI solutions.

Enterprise architecture and standards

  • Support selected enterprise architecture and standards initiatives;
  • Contribute to capability, architecture and standards-related analysis and documentation;
  • Assist with maintaining architecture-related repositories, roadmaps and reference material.

Technology lifecycle, sustainability and quality

  • Contribute to technology lifecycle, sustainability and quality activities;
  • Support analysis and reporting on obsolescence and business legacy;
  • Contribute to sustainability programme activities and quality-management documentation.

Knowledge management and corporate follow-up

  • Support knowledge management and corporate follow-up activities;
  • Help structure and maintain ICT systems knowledge and relevant documentation;
  • Support monitoring and reporting of risk mitigation actions and audit recommendations.

Communication and analysis

  • Support communication activities and prepare concise reports, presentations or analysis as requested;
  • Study relevant documentation and contribute ideas for improving processes, governance and ways of working.

 

You are

  • You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
  • You are interested in IT governance, enterprise architecture, Data and AI, technology standards, sustainability or quality management;
  • You have participated in a project, research assignment or team activity in the course of your studies or outside;
  • You have an analytical and structured mindset and are comfortable working with complex IT- and policy-related documentation;
  • You are fluent in English and able to process and summarize a large amount of information; knowledge of French is an advantage;
  • You are proficient in MS Office tools and Teams;
  • You communicate well in a multicultural environment and are curious, motivated to learn and open to new ideas and people;
  • You want to enjoy the time at Schuman Traineeship in the European Parliament.
