Member's Digital Experience Unit - Customised Support and Emerging Needs

The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC)  is dedicated to empowering the institution by delivering digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services.

By implementing advanced technologies and best practices, DG ITEC ensures that the European Parliament remains at the forefront of digital developments while maintaining the highest standards of security and quality. This mission is fundamental to supporting the legislative process, enabling democracy and fostering a robust IT ecosystem within the institution.

The Members' Digital Experience Unit (e-MEP) improves the experience of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and their offices regarding IT systems. We take care of the first line and on-site IT support for Members and their offices (assistants, local assistants, etc.), and we raise IT-awareness about the solutions available for our target population to work efficiently, anytime and anywhere.

Under the supervision of the traineeship supervisor, the trainee will be involved in the different specialised IT services which our unit provides to Members' offices, including the development and implementation of AI-related services and support, tailored AI training and consultations, as well as technical support for AI applications:

• The creation and delivery of AI training sessions, tutorials, and user guides for Members and Assistants, focusing on the practical applications of AI in their daily work;
• The identification and documentation of AI-related needs and opportunities within the European Parliament, including the review of existing AI solutions and their potential adaptation to the Parliament's context;
• The development of future AI-related technical support services that fit the specific needs of a MEP's office;
• The documentation of AI services and processes, including the review and update of technical documents and guidelines related to AI applications.

With an emphasis on providing AI support and expertise to Members and their Assistants, the tasks could be adjusted to focus on the above-mentioned topics.

• You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
• Graduate in the fields of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technologies, or other field relevant to the duties and tasks, user-oriented, analytical, and with very good communication skills:
• Mastery of AI concepts, machine learning, and data analysis, as well as experience with AI applications and tools;
• Good at communicating complex technical issues to non-technical audiences, with the ability to design and deliver engaging training sessions, tutorials, and user guides;
• Written and spoken fluency in English is a requirement; a good knowledge of other EU languages would be an asset;
• The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organised, and able to work independently, with a strong focus on providing high-quality support and expertise to Members and their Assistants. Experience in creating technical documentation, user guides, and tutorials is an asset.
