Who we are
The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC) delivers digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services for the European Parliament.
As part of the Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (ITEC), the IT Governance and Enterprise Architecture Unit (ITGOV) provides direction, guidance and coordinates the overall IT governance, including governance bodies, to ensure corporate sustainable decisions and technology/projects development. The team consists of specialists in Enterprise Architecture and Business Analysis serving as trusted advisors to higher management. Our role is to bridge business and technology, ensuring strategic alignment, efficiency and innovation. We analyse and optimize architectures, systems and processes to drive informed decision-making and sustainable growth. Through our expertise, we help navigate complexity, mitigate risks and shape future of our organization.
Key Activities:
Enterprise Architecture (EA):
- Maintain DG ITEC Business Capability Map;
- Assess maturity of capabilities;
- Link capabilities with strategy;
- Develop and maintain EA content repository;
- Work on EA target architecture;
- Integrate EA Governance into DG ITEC governance structures;
- Maintain, develop and support EA solution.
Business Analysis (BA):
- Support Agile IT planning process;
- Play role of DG ITEC Business Analyst;
- Coordinate and coach business analysis projects.
Furthermore:
- Establish and oversee processes related to the ICT Governance Framework (e.g. Technology Lifecycle and Obsolescence Management, ICT Demand and Change Management);
- Respond to higher management demand for advisory role in EA and BA domains;
- Run communication on relevant activities of ITGOV unit;
- Ensure adherence to the ‘Reuse before Buy before Build’ (RBB) principle;
- Support Architecture and Standard Board activities.
Your tasks
Integrate with the team work organization (Agile):
- Sprint planning;
- Review/retrospective;
- Weekly team meetings.
Learn essential elements of our domains (EA, BA):
- EA artefacts and standards;
- EA procedures and repository;
- BA IT planning process;
- BA methodology and conventions.
Support selected initiatives related to EA domain:
- Conceptual work on EA deliverables;
- Develop EA repository.
Furthermore:
- Support Agile ITP procedure (ITP request review);
- Support communication activities of ITGOV unit;
- Study relevant documentation and provide reports as requested.
You are
- You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
- You are interested in IT technology, standards and methods;
- You have participated in a project (in the course of studies or outside);
- You are fluent in English language and you are able to process big amount of IT related texts;
- You are proficient in Ms Office tools, particularly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams;
- You can communicate efficiently with native and non-native English speakers or (as an advantage) with French speakers;
- You would like to experience working in multi-cultural environment at the heart of the European Union in European Parliament administration;
- You are motivated to learn, open to new ideas and people and to enjoy the time as a Schuman Trainee in the EP.
