European Parliament Liaison Office in Greece (Athens) - Post A: Written and Online Press

As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

We are the European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) in Greece. EPLOs are responsible for the local implementation of the European Parliament (EP) institutional communication activities, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that people understand the importance of the EP well enough to engage in the European democratic process.

We engage with citizens and stakeholders, manage contacts with the media and also provide support to the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) in the exercise of their official mandates.

Our activities, which predominantly take place in Greek (perfect native-level a prerequisite) include:

• Running communication campaigns, including events and exhibitions;
• Promoting debate about European parliamentary democracy;
• Proactively communicating about the role the EP plays in shaping EU policies, both with citizens and the media;
• Engaging with national, regional and local authorities, civil society, associations, schools, universities and think tanks, ensuring they are aware of the European Parliament’s decisions that can affect them;
• We are also DG COMM's eyes and ears on the ground, and help to interpret local developments and further report on national politics.

Δεδομένου ότι η άσκηση αυτή θα πραγματοποιηθεί σε στενή συνεργασία με την Υπηρεσία Τύπου του Γραφείου, είναι ευνόητο ότι πρότερη τυχόν εμπειρία στον χώρο των ΜΜΕ ή/και του ελληνόφωνου τύπου (γραπτού ή οπτικοακουστικού), όπως και γνώσεις σχετικά με τον τρόπο λειτουργίας της ΕΕ -και ιδίως για τον ρόλο που διαδραματίζει το ΕΚ κατά την διαδικασία λήψης αποφάσεων- αποτελούν πρόσθετα προσόντα.

Πέραν αυτών, τα καθήκοντα των ασκούμενων που ανήκουν στο δυναμικό του Γραφείου μας είναι ποικίλα, αλλά αφορούν και:

• την προετοιμασία δράσεων επικοινωνιακού χαρακτήρα (ημερίδες, συνεντεύξεις τύπου, θεματικά σεμινάρια, πρόγραμμα Euroscola, οργάνωση δράσεων στο Europa Experience / Εμπειρία Ευρώπη Αθηνών...);
• συμμετοχή στις ενημερωτικές εκστρατείες του Γραφείου ανάλογα με τις εκάστοτε πολιτικές προτεραιότητες;
• συμμετοχή στις προετοιμασίες εν όψει της οργάνωσης επισκέψεων εργασίας, στην Ελλάδα, κοινοβουλευτικών επιτροπών του ΕΚ;
  επικουρικά, καθήκοντα γραμματειακής υποστήριξης. 

Καθώς είμαστε σε καθημερινή επαφή και επικοινωνία με τους πολίτες, η γνώση της ελληνικής είναι εκ των ων ουκ άνευ. Eντούτοις, ανήκουμε στην Γενική Διεύθυνση Επικοινωνίας του ΕΚ - και σε αυτό το πολύγλωσσο και πολυ-πολιτισμικό περιβάλλον, η άριστη χρήση της αγγλικής ή/και γαλλικής είναι απαραίτητες, χωρίς αυτό να σημαίνει ότι η ευχέρεια σε άλλες γλώσσες της ΕΕ δεν θα ληφθεί υπόψιν.
