European Parliament Liaison Office in Germany (Berlin) - Post A: Press and Digital Communication

As part of Parliament's commitment to honoring journalists who were killed during the exercise of their work, the Directorate for Media offers its Schuman traineeships in memory of Jan Kuciak, the Slovakian investigative journalist who was murdered in February 2018.

The Directorate for Liaison Offices is DG COMM's front line in the Member States. The Liaison Offices connect to citizens across the European Union, engaging with their concerns, understanding their cultures and speaking their languages, in order to make that vital connection between the European Parliament and the diverse local realities it represents. The European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) in Berlin ensures the local implementation of the European Parliament institutional communication activities in Germany. In doing so, it forms the bridge between the institution and German citizens. By using media relations, social media communication, the organization of events, political debates, workshops for schools and roll play games in the Europa Experience exhibition, we attempt to bring the Parliament and citizens closer to each other. We have close contact with the German Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and help them with the communication of their activities towards the audience in Germany.

Important notice for applicants:

Please note that our EPLO has issued two traineeship offers (Posts A and Post B). If you wish to be considered for the position of a trainee in our EPLO, it is enough to apply for only one of the offers available. Your application will be duly examined during the selection stage.

Applying for more than one offer would limit your possibility to apply for traineeship offers in other Directorates-General of the Parliament (according to the rules on Schuman traineeships in the European Parliament, you have the possibility to apply for maximum three traineeship offers).

Die "Post A"-Traineestelle des Verbindungsbüros des Europäischen Parlaments in Berlin mit dem Schwerpunkt "Pressearbeit / digitale Kommunikation" hat folgende Aufgabenbeschreibung: 

• Erstellen und Versenden von Pressemitteilungen im Content-Management-System des Europäischen Parlaments;
• Adaption englischsprachiger Pressemitteilungen des zentralen Pressereferats in Brüssel und Übersetzung vom Englischen ins Deutsche;
• Recherche von Medienkontakten und Pflege der Kontaktdatenbank des Verbindungsbüros, persönliche Ansprache von Journalistinnen und Journalisten;
• Beantwortung von Anfragen von Journalistinnen und Journalisten, anderen Medienvertreterinnen und Medienvertretern sowie der Zivilgesellschaft zur aktuellen EU-Gesetzgebung mittels legislativer Recherche und zu anderen Themen mit Europabezug;
• Unterstützung bei der Organisation von Pressegesprächen und europapolitischen Debatten mit Mitgliedern des Europäischen Parlaments, einschließlich Einladungsmanagement;
• Verfassen von Artikeln für die Website des Verbindungsbüros und den Newsletter über die Themen der Plenartagungen des Europäischen Parlaments und Veranstaltungshinweise des Verbindungsbüros;
• Vorbereitung von Präsentationen, Notizen, Berichten und Briefings;
• Social-Media-Management: Planen und Erstellen von Content für Facebook/Instagram (Posts, Reels, Stories) und LinkedIn;
• Erstellen von Inhalten und grafischen Designs/Visuals mit dem Grafik-Tool Canva; Unterstützung der digitalen Kommunikationsstrategie;
• Unterstützung der Jugendprojekte des Verbindungsbüros; Mithilfe bei der Durchführung des EPAS-Programms für Schulen ('European Parliament Ambassador Schools') für das deutsche EPAS-Netzwerk;
• Unterstützung bei der Aktualisierung von Publikationen.

Welches Profil wir suchen: 

• Ein überzeugendes Motivationsschreiben in deutscher Sprache und einen aussagekräftigen Lebenslauf;
• Ausgezeichnetes Beherrschen der deutschen Sprache (C2), sehr gute Englischkenntnisse;
• Ehrenamtliche oder berufliche Erfahrung im Bereich Journalismus oder Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit;
• Sehr gute mündliche und schriftliche Ausdrucksfähigkeit;
• Politisches Verständnis, insbesondere der Funktionsweise der Europäischen Union und des Europäischen Parlaments;
• Erfahrung im Umgang mit Canva und Editieren von kurzen Videos erwünscht;
• Grundkenntnisse im Videodreh und Videoschnitt mit Adobe Premiere oder Canva von Vorteil;
• Teamfähigkeit, Zuverlässigkeit, Kreativität;
• Sehr gutes Organisationstalent;
• Hohes Interesse am Mitgestalten der Presseprojekte und Informations- und Bildungsangebote des deutschen Verbindungsbüros des Europäischen Parlaments, um die Arbeit des Europäischen Parlaments in den Medien, Schulen und in der deutschen Bevölkerung insgesamt präsenter und verständlicher zu machen.
