As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament (MEPs) to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.
We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
The Directorate for Liaison Office (EPLO) team is composed of dedicated communication professionals who work to bring the European Parliament closer to citizens. Through media relations, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach, the team supports the Parliament’s mission of promoting democratic participation across Europe.
The European Parliament Liaison Office in Lisbon is tasked with implementing institutional communication activities at the local level, with the overarching goal of fostering citizens’ understanding of the European Parliament and encouraging their active participation in the European democratic process.
The EPLO in Lisbon engages with citizens and key stakeholders, liaises with national, regional, and local media, and offers support to Members of the European Parliament.
Your tasks
- Supporting the Head of Office and the Press Officers;
- Follow up of the main topics discussed at the EP and of the political, economic and social developments in Portugal;
- Monitoring communication actions and press analysis;
- Elaboration of communication plans, press releases and press kits;
- Contacts with journalists;
- Support to the management of social media accounts and production of audio-visual contents;
- Administrative tasks: search for suppliers, control of deliveries, management of stocks, and distribution of materials.
You are
You are/have:
- Thorough knowledge of Portuguese;
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
- Graduated in Journalism or Audiovisual and Multimedia Communication;
- Advanced level of English and/or French.
You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
