Who we are
As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.
We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
The European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) in Finland raises awareness of the European Parliament and its Members by providing information, answering questions and building links with citizens, stakeholders and the media in Finland. Are you passionate about communication? Do you want to learn more about the EU? Then our communication traineeship might be something for you! As a trainee at the EPLO in Finland, you get to closely follow the political and legislative work of the European Parliament and assist with our communication activities.

Your tasks
- Drafting press releases and invitations for seminars and press conferences;
- Assisting in the organisation of events, press briefings, seminars and press conferences;
- Compiling and analysing press coverage;
- Creating content for EPLO’s social media channels, as a rule in Finnish;
- Drafting content for EPLO webpage and for the weekly newsletter in Finnish;
- Answering to EU/EP related enquiries by phone/email or in person;
- Other possible tasks assigned by EPLO Officers e.g. campaign planning, media monitoring, production of visual and audio-visual materials for the web, attending meetings and drafting reports.
You are
- You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) in the domain of communications, political studies, sociology or related fields at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
- You are interested in EU institutions and decision-making with basic knowledge of the work of the European Parliament;
- You are interested and experienced in communications related tasks with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- You are motivated to work in a multicultural/multilingual working environment;
- You have an excellent command of Finnish and a good command of English.
