Who we are

As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament (MEPs) to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

We are the European Parliament Liaison Office in Spain - Barcelona Regional Office, part of DG COMM.

 

Your tasks

In the Barcelona office, you will help with:

  • Organising debates, press conferences, presentations and other events to increase awareness on politics, subject to Parliament’s agenda: with Members of the European Parliament, citizens and stakeholders;
  • Holding events to promote EU values: human rights (Sakharov Prize), women’s rights (International Women's Day), Europe Day, EU culture (LUX Audience Award), etc.;
  • Assisting relations with the press, including searching for accurate answers to press questions, organising seminars for journalists in Brussels and/or Strasbourg, and press conferences;
  • Drafting communication products for the press and other targets: press releases, newsletters, leaflets, etc. and analysing media reports;
  • Our social media and web strategy.

 

You are

Do you:

  • Have very good knowledge of English or French and excellent knowledge of Spanish (Catalan extremely welcome as well)?
  • Have a degree in journalism or any other communication studies and/or background?
  • Enjoy organising and communicating?
  • Have very good computer and drafting skills?
  • Enjoy social media and publishing content?

You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
