Who we are

As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament (MEPs) to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

About the Relations with Committees and Content Coordination Unit

The unit coordinates communication across EP’s official channels. In a very dynamic political environment, the unit ensures DG COMM staff stay informed about parliamentary decisions and priorities by enabling accurate and consistent messaging. It also leads cross-DG Thematic Teams, bringing together colleagues from different services to plan communication on specific topics.

The unit’s activities are structured around two main pillars:

  1. Coordination of Thematic Teams and relations with EP committees
  2. Editorial coordination of DG COMM’s channels via the Editorial Committee

The main tasks ensured by our unit, among others, are the following:

  • Chairing and coordinating the meetings of the Editorial Committee following EP priorities, facilitating inter-unit cooperation and making sure long-term and short-term planning are fully integrated;
  • Coordinating and organising the work of the Thematic Teams, ensuring the coverage of all political priorities and support in the communication activities of the committees, delegations, MEPs and other DGs;
  • Creating, adopting and coordinating communication plans on priority topics and events, supervising the implementation of planned actions and reporting the actions to the policy DGs;
  • Keeping track and approving all DG COMM’s products published weekly through the General Planning, ensuring consistent quality and coherence among all the producing units;
  • Representation in the Directors’ Committee and subsequent liaising between directors and Editorial Committee;
  • Liaising between the President’s media team and the Editorial Committee;
  • Inclusion in any working groups that may have an editorial impact on narrative and targeting;
  • Preparing a coherent long-term and also short-term planning for the Directors’ planning meeting.
