Who we are

As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament (MEPs) to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

The Strategic Relations and Coordination Unit (StratU) is the central contact point in DGCOMM for the administrative and political authorities of the European Parliament We reach out to Members and parliamentary assistants to provide information, support and advice regarding DG COMM services and facilities at the disposal of Members. Our role is also to supports DG COMM leadership by providing strategic support, effective coordination and accurate information to ensure the consistent implementation of DG COMM communication strategy and objectives.

The Strategic Relations and Coordination Unit prepares DG COMM’s overall strategic direction for the Director-General. The Strategic Relations and Coordination Unit is in charge of internal communication. It ensures efficient information flows, coherence of messages and alignment between services.

 

Your tasks

  • Helping in internal communication - writing articles, internal emails, updating content on the intranet;
  • Helping the advisers to the Director-General in their various tasks;
  • Maintaining and updating various documents, common working spaces and tools;
  • Drafting and editing texts, notes, letters and other material about the Directorate-General for Communication in English;
  • Proofreading strategic documents in English;
  • Attending conferences and events and writing reports about them;
  • Collecting, analysing, and synthesising information on political, social, communication and technological trends relevant to the Directorate-General’s priorities;
  • Assisting in organising seminars, stands and other information events, including logistical and on-site support during the activity;
  • Helping organise meetings (agenda, speaking points, minutes, follow-up, etc).

 

You are

  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • You hold an academic background in communication or journalism;
  • You are proficient in English; a good command of French would be an asset;
  • You are motivated, versatile and detail-oriented, and you work in an autonomous and proactive manner.

You have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
