Who we are
As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.
We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
Within the Directorate for Liaison Offices, the Europa Experience and Operations Support Unit is responsible for the deployment of the network of Europa Experience spaces (interactive exhibition and EU events hub) across the EU Capital cities and regional offices. These decentralised visitor facilities aim to relay the same message that Europeans stand stronger together to face the day’s challenges by bringing Europe closer to the citizens and raising their awareness on the significance of the work done by the EU, its democratic functioning and the challenges Europeans tackle together.
Each Europa Experience is made up of a core set of Europa Experience media stations presenting the European democracy, the Members of Parliament and their work, the main political and policy issues at stake, the European Union decision making system, its impact on Europeans’ daily lives, and within it the role of Members of the European Parliament when exerting Parliament constitutional & assent, legislative, budgetary and scrutiny roles in the European Union. An immersive cinema offers a full panorama of Europe, its leadership and achievements, as well as the main challenges facing the European democracies; and depending on the available space, a Role Play Game for school groups allows younger audiences to experience the legislative role of Members of the European Parliament and the main steps of the ordinary legislative procedure.
The Unit is in charge of the conception, purchase and installation of the multimedia stations, the audio-visual and software contents, as well as the communication elements of the visitors’ facilities in the remaining EU Capitals and regional offices. The Unit is also in charge of the design and implementation of Role Play Game strategy.
As of April 2026, there are 17 exhibitions in operation with over 4.8 million visitors to date: Berlin (2016), Ljubljana (2017), the Parlamentarium Simone Veil in Strasbourg (2017), Helsinki (2018), Copenhagen (2019), Tallinn (2020), Paris (2022), Rome (2022), Stockholm(2023), Warsaw(2023), Vienna(2023), Prague(2024), Luxembourg(2024), Dublin (2024), Zagreb (2025), Athens (2025) and Budapest (2025). Project teams are responsible for the additional Europa Experiences to be established in EU capital cities, with the next spaces in The Hague and Sofia scheduled to be opened in 2026.
