Who we are
As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.
We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
The European Parliament's Audiovisual Unit provides essential services to raise the awareness of the European Parliament and guarantee the transparency of its political activities. Among many other services, we broadcast and stream the special events, the plenary sessions and the committee meetings and make all the necessary video and photo material available on the Multimedia Centre for journalists and producers.
The Media Library archives and stores audiovisual content produced in the European Parliament. We provide access to broadcast-quality video footage of a wide range of EP activities to journalists, citizens, NGOs, as well as internal services. We offer thousands of hours’ worth of video footage, audio recordings, documenting the history of Europe from the first steps of the Common Market to the present day.
The Audiovisual Unit also provides video, audio and photo services to the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and offers audiovisual facilities such as TV studios, radio studios or camera crews to broadcast and webcast media undertakings.
As part of Parliament's commitment to honoring journalists who were killed during the exercise of their work, the Directorate for Media offers its Schuman traineeships in memory of Jan Kuciak, the Slovakian investigative journalist who was murdered in February 2018.
