Who we are

The Directorate-General for Parliamentary Democracy Partnerships (DG PART) is tasked with fostering cooperation with national parliaments as well as coordinating the efforts made by Parliament liaison offices and representations outside of the European Union with the objective to streamline actions aimed at promoting and upholding parliamentary democracy in Europe and beyond.

The Strategy and Communications Unit reports directly to the Director-General and is responsible for the strategic planning and communication activities of the Directorate-General. As a horizontal unit, the Strategy and Communications Unit coordinates the Directorate-General's contributions to institutional projects and follows up on projects that DG PART shares with other Directorates-General. We work with partners and stakeholders, in Europe and across the globe, to strengthen communication about the European Parliament's activities within the areas of responsibility of DG PART and also produce content for internal and external communication.

 

Your tasks

As a trainee, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a wide range of projects and will be tasked with assisting the Unit's staff in their duties, inter alia: 

  • Organising activities in general;
  • Coordinating and cooperating with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Provide written contributions to, e.g. speeches, presentations, briefings, letters and notes; 
  • Providing operational support as necessary. 

Horizontal tasks involving work with other entities in the Directorate-General can be expected as well as duties of a practical and administrative nature. 

The trainee should rapidly acquire a good knowledge of Parliament's structure and functioning, in order to contribute to tasks linked to strategy and communications, in interaction with other Units in DG PART and other Directorates-General. 

 

You are

We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, adaptable, and ready to contribute to a dynamic team environment.

The successful candidate will possess a Vocational education qualification (EQF level 3, 4 or 5) or a University degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship, in a field relevant to the field of activity of the Unit, e.g. Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, International Relations, and should: 

  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team; 
  • Have very good drafting skills in English;
  • Be able to communicate efficiently and tactfully with stakeholders both inside and outside the European Parliament;
  • Have a good sense of situational judgment;
  • Be well-organised and able to comply with deadline.

A good knowledge in multimedia and design tools (such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve) or Podcast production will be consider an asset.
