If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!
The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, the DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality and diversity;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
The Prevention and Well-being at Work Unit has a mission to make the European Parliament a workplace that is safe, healthy, engaging and conducive to its employees’ well-being. To do so, the unit prepares and implements the Parliament’s policies in the area of prevention, protection and well-being at work, and serves as a source of expertise and an advocate of the best practices in these areas.
The unit consists of three services:
- The Prevention and Protection at Work Service, which is in charge of preventive health and safety measures in the physical working environment, based on internal rules and European and national legislation;
- The Well-being at Work Service, which is in charge of preventive health and safety measures in the psychosocial working environment (such as the assessment of psychosocial risks) as well as initiatives regarding mental health and well-being;
- The management of the Sports Clubs in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg.
The unit has staff in Brussels and Luxembourg. The traineeship is based in Bussels.
Your tasks
Your tasks will be:
- Assisting the unit in administrative tasks, including supporting the alignment of file management practices with the upcoming revision of the DG’s Data Retention Schedule;
- Preparing content for internal and external communication, such as articles and news updates related to the unit’s activities, including campaigns like the Confidential Counsellors Network and participation in the Interinstitutional Health and Safety Week;
- Conducting research on best practices in occupational safety and health, propose innovative solutions and improvements, and potentially incorporate findings from the DG’s psychosocial risk assessment;
- Ensuring that brochures, intranet pages, and other informational materials are kept up to date for both the unit and its associated services;
- Contributing to the organisation of initiatives promoting mental health and well-being, such as the Mind Matters events, webinars, and training courses (e.g., Well-being Days 2026);
- Supporting activities across the unit’s three services, including implementation of health and safety policies and coordination of psychosocial risk assessments.
You are
If you:
- Have a background and/or experience in communications, marketing or similar field; other profiles will also be considered, especially those with background in human resources, organizational psychology, and/or occupational health
- Have an interest in the occupational health, well-being, and mental health matters would be an advantage
- Are conscientious, detail-oriented and able to carry out tasks independently
- Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Have a sense of initiative and ability to propose new solutions
- Are open-minded and like to work in a team
- Have an excellent knowledge of English and/or French;
- Have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
