Who we are
If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS.
The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, the DG PERS manages different categories of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, onboarding, learning & development, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, payroll, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication.
Our service, Coaching and Management Development Service, is composed of five women at various levels of seniority. All of us are coaches and some of us are also trainers and facilitators.
We are responsible for the design and implementation of individual and collective coaching programs, provided by accredited internal and external coaches to support the professional development of managers and other agents at the EP Secretariat.
We offer a comprehensive range of learning opportunities tailored to managers and future managers to strengthen leadership and management skills, such as catalogue courses, information sessions, practical workshops and residential seminars.
We also organise activities to increase managers' awareness of their strengths and development areas (360°, development centres, self-assessment tools) and promote better managerial effectiveness.
We coordinate the activities of the European Parliament's Coaching Community (EPCC) counting 19 internal professional coaches and ensure compliance with the highest standards set by internationally recognised coaching federations.
Your tasks
- Observe and contribute to the organisation and delivery of coaching and management development activities, gaining hands-on insight into learning and development practices;
- Analyse participation and learning data from management development activities (e.g. attendance patterns, DG distribution, seniority levels) to derive insights on how our current offer is used and how it can be developed;
- Contribute to the design and implementation of a survey targeting managers and to the analysis and interpretation of the collected data, aiming to better understand the development needs and expectations of our managers;
- Based on the findings, formulate recommendations to enhance the management development offer (e.g. learning formats, topics, trainers, communication and delivery methods);
- Review and propose improvements to the service’s use of collaborative IT tools, with the objective of strengthening knowledge sharing and internal team collaboration;
- Support the follow-up and implementation of the team’s action plan resulting from the service's team coaching that will happen during the first semester 2026.
You are
You have:
- University degree in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Learning & Development, Educational Sciences, Business Administration, or a related fields;
- Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to work with data (e.g. participation metrics, survey results) and translate findings into actionable recommendations;
- Interest or basic knowledge in Learning & Development, coaching, and management development methodologies;
- Good command of IT, AI and collaborative tools (e.g. databases, survey tools, Excel, data visualisation, knowledge-sharing platforms;
- Ability and motivation to work on multiple projects;
- Good organisational and project management skills;
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to synthesise information and formulate clear recommendations;
- Team spirit;
- Obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
