The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

The Website Management Unit of the Directorate for Communication Support and Analytics ensures the conception and the technical development of projects in the field of web, mobile and video streaming.

Our mission is to deliver high quality software solutions fitted for the business needs of our internal European Parliament clients and our ultimate clients, the European citizens.

We put our expertise at work in order to deliver websites to inform about European Parliament activity and latest news in a useful way, accessible to everyone, in users’ European language. Thus, our websites are multilingual and we target for high performance, accessibility, usability, reliability, security, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.

Among our projects, developed in house or externally, there are: Europarl News Website and the in-house made Content Management System (Scribo) for it, President’s Website, Secretary General Website, About Parliament Website, At Your Service Website, European Elections Website, Election Results Website and many others.

 

Your tasks

We are looking for a Web Developer. We will offer you the opportunities to learn software development technologies and work in a continuous integration environment with exciting every day challenges and lots of diverse and interesting projects. We welcome candidates who show potential to grow in this exciting IT domain.

As a web developer trainee, you would be involved in the following:

  • Work closely with senior developers and architects to implement corrective or adaptive maintenance or to develop new projects features;
  • Liaise with the analyst colleagues and quality assurance team working towards project objectives;
  • Participate in evaluation process for architectural choices;
  • Perform technical analyses;
  • Contribute to the technical knowledge base.

 

You are

  • You are willing to work as part of a team, in a multicultural environment;
  • You studied Computer Sciences/Information Technologies/Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent;
  • You have Java and/or Javascript or other coding experience;
  • You understand the software development life cycle;
  • You are ready to work in an English and French speaking environment;
  • You are willing to work on challenging projects;
  • You are willing to learn.
