The Cabinet of the President of the European Parliament supports the President in fostering renewed confidence in, and commitment to, the European project. This work contributes to the advancement of a safer, fairer, and more just, and equitable Union, while reinforcing a stronger Europe capable of engaging and inspiring a younger generation.
The diplomatic advisor is responsible for foreign policy overview, EU defence policy, enlargement, and neighbourhood.
Your tasks
The trainee will perform the following tasks:
- Assist in the drafting of briefings for the President's meetings relating to EU external relations;
- Assist in the preparation of correspondence;
- Participate in Parliament's committees and interparliamentary delegations meetings and prepare minutes;
- Provide support to the Cabinet in the preparation of diplomatic meetings.
You are
We are looking for a motivated and dynamic trainee with an interest in EU foreign and security policies and diplomacy to assist the diplomatic advisor in the Cabinet of the European Parliament President, who has obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
Essential:
- Excellent organisational skills, flexibility and ability to work with deadlines;
- Language proficiency in English, both written and orally is highly desirable. Any other EU languages would be an asset;
- Preferable background would be in the domain of Political Sciences, Law or Social sciences;
- Openness to work in a multicultural and fast-paced environment and in a team with good degree of personal autonomy;
- Good communication skills;
- Detail-oriented and a meticulous approach pro-active, motivated, curious, innovative and be able to switch with relative ease on different topics;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (including Outlook).
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the EU institutions and understanding of EU decision-making;
- Professional experience in diplomacy, foreign affairs, or within national or international institutions/organizations.
