Who we are
The Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics (DG INLO) is responsible for overseeing the European Parliament's vast infrastructure portfolio, which spans around 1.3 million square meters of building space across Europe. This includes a variety of tasks that are crucial to ensuring the smooth functioning and sustainability of the Parliament's operations.
DG INLO's responsibilities go beyond just building management; it is also in charge of a range of essential services such as catering, mail distribution, furniture management, and transport for Parliament Members and staff. This comprehensive approach ensures that all physical and logistical needs are met, supporting the European Parliament’s political activities in a sustainable way.
The European Parliament’s environmental policies are driven by the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) standard, with the aim of continually improving its environmental results in accordance with the EMAS Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009 and ISO 14001:2015 standard. They include, among others, the domains of energy efficiency and renewable energy, energy performance of buildings, waste management and carbon emissions.
Within the Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics, the Sustainability and Accessibility Policy Unit is in charge of coordinating a number of tasks stemming from the European Parliament’s environmental policies. These policies and their application is characterized by a high level of complexity and detail. In the context of the development of its activities, the Sustainability and Accessibility Policy Unit is looking for a person with communication or data visualization analyst skills. The trainee will facilitate information flows between relevant internal actors (primarily the EMAS unit, different Directorates within DG INLO).
At the end of the traineeship, the trainee should have insight for environmental reporting and monitoring in a public institution, as well as understand sustainability challenges related to building management, EMAS certification scheme and environmental policies (relevant for public and private sector alike).
Your tasks
Generalist or data visualization analyst - Environmental management.
The trainee would primarily support the Sustainability and Accessibility Policy Unit in developing written and visual communications related to environmental management, such as visualising data on Parliament’s environmental performance in a form of graphs and charts. The trainee would also support the preparation of other content such as environmental reports, PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, summaries, guidelines etc..
In addition, the trainee's assignments would include organizational support for meetings such as DG INLO Environmental Management Network, preparation of presentations on the different projects of the Unit, and drafting of technical documents and minutes of meetings.
You are
- Languages: English, French;
- Good clear writing and communication skills;
- Ability to visualise environmental data in terms of graphs and charts;
- Good management of PowerPoint and image editing software;
- Good organizational skills;
- Pro-active and agile mind-set;
- Demonstrated interest in energy, buildings, environmental or climate issues (preferable).
