Who we are

The Directorate-General for Budgetary Affairs (DG BUDG) is responsible for organising the work of Parliament's committees on budgets and budgetary control and for providing policy support and analyses in the field of budget to committees and parliamentary bodies.

We are a service provider placed under the authority of the Director-General for Budgetary Affairs. In particular, we provide support to the Director-General, the 5 Units and the staff. We are a nice team of 10 colleagues with 8 different nationalities.

Our unit ensures the smooth running of the human resources, budget and financial procedures in our Directorate-General. Our aim is also to ensure that the Directorate-General has the necessary administrative framework, tools and knowledge in place so that the units and the staff can carry out their tasks in accordance with our internal strategy, the rules and procedures of the European Parliament and the law.

This important aspect of our work involves dealing with a variety of tasks, such as the establishment of internal rules and procedures, internal communication with different actors,  document management, training, etc. We have daily contacts with the other units of the Directorate-General, which are the Secretariat of the Committee on Budgets, the Secretariat of the Committee on Budgetary Control, the Budgetary Support Unit and the Expenditures Analysis Unit, as well as with other Directorates-General within the Parliament’s General Secretariat.

 

Your tasks

  • Support the team through research, drafting of documents, maintaining of databases, proof-reading and organisation;
  • Work both in the Parliament’s premises and online;
  • Be in contact with other Directorates-General or Institutions;
  • Participate in committee meetings and other events and report on them orally or in writing;
  • Help with the organisation of internal meetings or training courses.

 

You are

  • Interested in politics and in the European integration;
  • Curious about the EU policies, institutions and procedures;
  • Keen to get an overview of the organisation and the work of an administrative entity of a EU Institution and to learn how the European Parliament works;
  • Interested in working in an international environment with rich language skills;
  • Excellent command of oral and written English;
  • Excellent drafting skills;
  • Open-minded, curious, team-oriented, ambitious and flexible.
