Who we are
If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!
The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
We are the Medical Preparedness and Crisis Management Unit (MPCMU) a highly motivated, forward-thinking team of five professionals working closely with the medical services in Brussels and Luxembourg.
Our mission is to deliver top-quality services, trusted expertise, and seamless coordination in the fields of medical crisis preparedness, analysis, prevention and management of collective emergencies and risks, in the different places of work and during EP missions (travel).
In practice, this means we:
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and develop effective procedures to strengthen medical preparedness for major incidents;
- Lead logistical planning and deliver hands-on training, from multidisciplinary medical crisis courses and exercises, to interactive workshops and skill stations;
- Analyse past crises to draw key lessons and shape the EP’s internal medical crisis preparedness, while preparing the blueprints for future health crisis management based on major incident management principles;
- Assess medical risks and anticipate emerging health emergencies, including travel medicine for delegations outside the EU;
- Coordinate the medical dimension of occupational health policies, addressing mental health, expert analysis, and guidance — always with full respect for medical ethics and data protection;
- Strengthen interinstitutional cooperation in occupational health matters and medical crisis preparedness, contributing actively to the Interinstitutional Medical Board (IMB) and the Joint Sickness and Insurance Scheme (JSIS).
