The Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Cybersecurity (DG ITEC) is a trusted partner that empowers the European Parliament by delivering digitally advanced, secure, resilient, compliant and sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) services.
The Cybersecurity Governance Unit (CYBERGOV), is part of the Directorate for Cybersecurity and IT Governance (GOV) that safeguards a robust, compliant, sustainable and secure IT ecosystem and architecture.
It facilitates the work of the whole DG ITEC, ensuring participative, consistent and transparent decision making and implementation. It is responsible for transversal tasks, including enterprise architecture, obsolescence and legacy management, risk management business continuity, and quality management. It is responsible for the compliance with EU Regulations and the governance for cybersecurity, AI, interoperability, innovation and digital accessibility.
Your tasks
The trainee will join the Cybersecurity Governance Unit (CYBERGOV) within the Directorate for Cybersecurity and IT Governance (GOV). The role focuses on creating new or improving existing European Parliament's cybersecurity documentation, contributing to the development and implementation of the European Parliament's user awareness programme and assisting in security governance in alignment with ISO 27000 methodologies and practices.
Key Focus Areas:
Security Policies and Standards:
- Assist in drafting and revising ICT security policies, standards and guidelines;
- Conduct research on current cybersecurity trends and best practices;
- Develop cybersecurity controls at both technical and organisational levels, tailored to the ICT context of the European Parliament.
User Awareness:
- Participate in organising cybersecurity awareness events and sessions;
- Develop awareness materials such as flyers, guides and presentations;
- Identify training needs for non-technical staff and contribute to the creation of targeted awareness programmes.
Cybersecurity Governance and Compliance:
- Support cybersecurity governance initiatives, audits;
- Develop ICT security requirements and assist in documentation efforts;
- Contribute to the implementation of operational best practices in cybersecurity governance.
You are
You have:
- A degree in ICT, ICT Security or related disciplines;
- Understanding of fundamental ICT security concepts, standards, policies, procedures, tools and controls;
- Knowledge of user awareness, networking, email technologies and software development;
- Experience with Windows or Linux operating systems;
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team;
- A strong commitment to continuous learning and improvement;
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
