Who we are

The Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences (DG LINC) is the multilingual conference service hub of the European Parliament. Our mission is to enable the European Parliament to achieve its political objectives, in particular in core activities related to legislative, budgetary and scrutiny functions. DG LINC provides a professional and user-oriented organisational framework to meetings and conferences including linguistic, technical and logistical support to meetings. DG LINC helps Members of Parliament get their message across in all official languages, making the legislative process accessible to citizens. It enables Parliament to further reach out to citizens with the capacity to organise conferences and cultural events outside part-sessions in Parliament’s seat in Strasbourg.

This makes DG LINC a very dynamic and collaborative place to work, offering various opportunities for connecting internally and with all those taking part in the legislative process. If you like challenges and are customer-minded, then DG LINC could be a great place for you to do a traineeship.

The Test Service in the Multilingualism and Succession Planning Unit is responsible for organising language-adding tests for accredited interpreters, the consecutive phase of the inter-institutional accreditation test, diagnostic tests (intended to establish the level of knowledge of a particular language) and internal competitions for interpreters. The Service is also responsible for managing and maintaining OTIS, the platform used by Selection Boards in the inter-institutional accreditation tests to record their evaluations. It operates in a dynamic environment and is in regular contact with many stakeholders in the Directorate-General, and beyond.

Your tasks

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Assisting with the organisation of language-adding tests and internal competitions, contacting the relevant parties and inserting the tests into the system;
  • Assisting with the organisation of the consecutive part of the inter-institutional accreditation test (recording the test in OTIS, assisting on-site when the test takes place, providing back-up services etc.);
  • Assisting the test team with their various additional tasks (OTIS, recorded speeches, documentation updates etc.);
  • Attending meetings, drafting minutes, analysing data, consolidating results, reporting on feedback etc, as well as carrying out other tasks in the wider unit;
  • Liaising with other parts of the service - interpreters, heads of language units, IT unit - as well as potentially with our partners in other EU institutions.

The traineeship should give you the opportunity to build on the knowledge acquired during your studies and to familiarise yourself with the activities of the European Parliament and to understand it better.
