Who we are

The Directorate-General for Security and Safety (DG SAFE) ensures the safety and security of the persons, buildings and assets within the European Parliament’s premises. In addition, it commits to provide high-quality security services by developing modern working methods, digitalised processes and using state-of-the-art technologies and equipment.

DG SAFE's Emergency and Control Room Unit ensures, 24/7, a safe and secure environment for Members, staff and visitors alike by means of remote monitoring control rooms. It is also responsible for the overall remote supervision of all technical security and safety installations, and coordinates a team of security operators and of dispatchers from a company specialised in fire prevention who respond to critical incidents by ensuring business continuity with all relevant stakeholders.

 

Your tasks

An internship in the Organisational Sector of the Emergency and Control Room Unit entails:

  • Assisting in the elaboration of projects designed to improve working methods in the operational front office as well as in the administrative and organisational back office according to recognised standards;
  • Assisting in the design of operational key performance indicators for operational sectors;
  • Assisting in redefining/updating standard operating procedures for the Emergency and Control Room Unit, under the guidance of the team leader;
  • Liaising with the personnel over the three sites to ensure procedures and processes are delivered according to established processes;
  • Developing and reviewing work processes through measurement and statistical modelling.

 

You are

We are looking for a candidate interested to work in the field of security able to interact in both English and French.

If you think you meet the following requirements, you are the person we are looking for in this internship:

  • Capacity to gather, analyse and process data from a control room;
  • Capacity to draft statistical analysis reports in English or French;
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and simple manner;
  • Basic knowledge of project management, procedures and processes;
  • Good team working spirit and sense of initiative;
  • Very good computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
