Youth Outreach Unit - Post C: Youth Engagement and Events

The European Parliament stands for European democracy. We help connect it to people.  

We work to provide complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament and assist our Members in their communication activities.

The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

The Youth Outreach Unit strives to develop a dialogue between youth organisations, educators and young people on the one hand and the European Parliament on the other, to enhance active citizenship and encourage young people to participate actively in democratic life and elections. With a transversal function, the Youth Outreach Unit provides expertise to other units in the areas of youth outreach and ensures all DG COMM youth activities are consistent. Building up a pan-European permanent online and offline youth community, the unit is also responsible for managing the European Youth Event (EYE) and other offline and online interactive activities involving young people all over Europe.  

• Supporting the work with youth organisations, and other youth multipliers, by communicating with them, publishing opportunities in the Facebook group, reaching out to new potential youth partners;
• Supporting the organisation of the European Youth Week’s central event in April 2026, which includes communicating with selected participants, contributing to the programme of the event, and assisting the team during the event itself;
• Supporting the implementation of a follow up on EYE2025, which includes potential implementation of youth-checks and coming up with new ways to engage young people in the work of the European Parliament;
• Supporting the organisation of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize and the Winners Week in Aachen in May 2026, which includes managing participants’ travel and accommodation, communicating with selected participants, preparing project files for the national and European Jury meetings, and contributing to the programme of the event;
• Support the Youth Outreach Unit’s work with other EP trainees: supporting the Alumni Board in managing the EP alumni network;
• Editing and translating of communication material (according to language skills).

• A good communicator, since you will be communicating with other colleagues, EP trainees, developing/editing communication material for young people, etc.;
• A thorough worker, with an eye for detail whilst keeping the bigger picture in mind,
• Resilient, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst still meeting deadlines;
• Interested in topical issues related to EU politics and youth;
• Good at doing online research (youth events, projects, conferences etc.);
• Organised: good at logistical tasks, especially related to events;
• A team-player while able to also work independently at a sustained pace on multiple tasks;
• At ease with IT tools: knowledge of specific events or team coordination related IT-tools would be an asset (e.g. Sharepoint, survey tools, databases);
• Very good written English; very good knowledge of German and/or French is an asset;
• Experienced with organisation of conferences and (youth) events (would be an asset);
• Actively engaged in a youth organisation or youth initiatives (would be an asset).
