Who we are

The Directorate-General for Citizens' Rights, Justice and Institutional Affairs (DG IUST) organises and facilitates the work of parliamentary committees in key areas such as culture, education, legal and constitutional affairs, gender equality, civil liberties, petitions and democracy protection. Through high-quality research, expert advice, and administrative support, DG IUST enables Members and committees to shape sound legislative and policy outcomes.

The Resources Unit is a horizontal service that supports the whole DG and works closely with the Director-General. As a Learning and Development trainee, you will assist the Learning and Development Adviser in managing requests and activities that support staff development across the DG. You will contribute both to external and internal learning initiatives and help ensure colleagues are well-informed about available opportunities.

Your tasks

  • Assist in handling requests for external individual or collective trainings, including external training days for units and participation in conferences organised by external stakeholders;
  • Support the organisation of internal away days for the DG, including the management away day;
  • Contribute to the promotion and communication of upcoming trainings that are relevant for staff development or linked to colleagues’ areas of expertise;
  • Assist in the organisation of welcome sessions for newcomers, including logistical support and preparation of materials;
  • Help maintain and regularly update the welcome pack and related documentation;
  • Contribute to drafting internal communications (e.g. intranet updates, news items) related to training opportunities and staff development;
  • Attend relevant meetings and provide feedback to the Learning and Development Adviser.

You are

  • Familiar with the work of the European Parliament;
  • At ease working both independently and in a multicultural and multilingual team;
  • Proactive, well-organised, and comfortable with coordinating several tasks simultaneously;
  • In possession of good interpersonal and client-oriented communication skills;
  • In possession of good verbal and written communication skills in English, knowledge of other EU languages is an asset;
  • Comfortable with IT tools and office software;
  • Responsible, eager to learn and ready to take on additional tasks.

The European Parliament is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace. We welcome all candidates, regardless of their geographical, racial or ethnic origin, political or religious beliefs, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, civil status, or family situation.
