Who we are
The Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences (DG LINC) is the multilingual conference service hub of the European Parliament. Our mission is to enable the European Parliament to achieve its political objectives, in particular in core activities related to legislative, budgetary and scrutiny functions. DG LINC provides a professional and user-oriented organisational framework to meetings and conferences including linguistic, technical and logistical support to meetings. DG LINC helps Members of Parliament get their message across in all official languages, making the legislative process accessible to citizens. It enables Parliament to further reach out to citizens with the capacity to organise conferences and cultural events outside part-sessions in Parliament’s seat in Strasbourg.

The Informatics Unit is responsible for providing IT tools (hardware, software, and applications) to the Directorates, units and services It is a friendly team operating in a multicultural environment. We are a team of 20 people from various backgrounds. We provide decentralized IT services to the Directorate General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences, about 700 people, and 2000 free-lance interpreters. We serve as well customers outside DG LINC who use our applications. Our main operational languages are English and French.
Your tasks
Your main tasks will consist of:
- Working alongside the team of Product Managers supporting the systems which manage the meeting requests, allocation of resources and support for interpreters;
- Assist the Product owners in defining and communicating the product vision, managing and prioritizing the product backlog, collaborating with stakeholders and customers;
- Supporting the Product owners/Business analysts in gathering requirements for new business needs;
- Proposing user stories;
- Testing the applications, reproducing bugs, suggesting solutions and providing feedback to the product managers;
- Drafting documentation concerning the applications to the different kind of users;
- Provide, compile and analyse some key data at the request of the product managers;
- Provide customer service where necessary;
- Liaise with colleagues or users on the behalf of the product managers.
The traineeship should give you the opportunity to build on the knowledge acquired during your studies. Hence, we will adapt your tasks to your background as far as possible. The traineeship aims to familiarise yourself with the activities of the European Parliament, as well as provide you with opportunities to develop a broad understanding of the European public service. You will have the opportunity to participate in meetings, committees and events which will allow you to get to know the heart of European democracy. Meeting other trainees from all over Europe and contributing to a thriving work atmosphere is expected of you.

- You are enthusiastic about the European Project;

- You are comfortable with new technologies and you have a good sense of communication (oral, written, visual);
- You have a team spirit and are willing to work within a small, friendly and motivated team;
- You are comfortable in following strict guidelines, tight deadlines and have strong work ethics;
- You understand confidentiality (as well as GDPR guidelines) is an important aspect of IT work;
- Studies and/or background in the field of IT is a requirement. The traineeship is not best suited for developers, rather for IT system professionals;
- Fluency in either English is needed, a good knowledge of French is an asset.
