Who we are
The European Parliament's Directorate-General for Parliamentary Research Services (DG EPRS) provides comprehensive research and analytical support to the Members of the European Parliament, its parliamentary committees and the European Parliament as a whole. The EPRS philosophy is to provide independent, objective and authoritative information. More than 300 staff work in the DG's 24 units and services.

Why choose a traineeship at DG EPRS?
'Empowering through knowledge' is the guiding principle of EPRS. As an EPRS trainee, you will be exposed to the core of the research and analysis process in the European Parliament. Surrounded by colleagues working on publications covering a wide range of EU policies, you will gain detailed knowledge of the EP's workings while honing your skills in your specific topic of interest. If you choose a traineeship in one of EPRS's library units, you will help the parliamentary community find the resources they need for their work.
The mission of the EPRS Finance Unit is to advise decision-makers on how to manage the budget made available to DG EPRS according to the financial rules. The activities of the unit comprise:
- Verification of budgetary transactions and procurement procedures;
- Reporting on budget execution status, annual activity reports, financial risk management reports;
- Act as the priority contact coordination point with regard to internal and external audits;
- Contribute to implement and assess the implementation of the internal minimum control standards;
- Advise colleagues working in financial matters;
- Define financial procedures, tools and documents.
Your tasks
Carry out analysis and other work linked with the unit's activities, for example:
- Analysis of the European Court of Auditors' recommendations with a view to improving DG EPRS' financial procedures when needed;
- Comparisons of public tenders for the acquisition of external studies by the European Institutions;
- Preparation of different statistical charts and tables on DG EPRS budget execution;
- Contribute to the assessment of internal control standards' application within DG EPRS.
You are
- You are dynamic, motivated and service-oriented, with a minimum level of education of 'bachelor' or equivalent, preferably in finance or accounting, management, law or economics;
- You have interest in EU finances, and you have knowledge and/or experience in the EU budget;
- Some knowledge of EU law governing the way public authorities purchase goods, works and services, would be an advantage. You are fluent in English or French, with very good drafting skills. You have very good computer skills (MS Office).
