The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
The Brussels Medical Service offers services to Members and the European Parliament’s staff in the field of occupational, statutory, preventive, general and emergency medicine in Brussels and Strasbourg.
Your tasks
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team composed of medical advisors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and medico-administrative staff and will have a particular responsibility.
You will support the social work service in its daily functioning with a particular responsibility in the following areas:
- Providing support for the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training programme, including updating material, presentations, data collection and statistics, as well as creating a communication channel for trainers;
- Giving support with online digital social service files;
- Ensuring that social service archives are managed in line with the data protection policy;
- Managing requests for appointments/interventions by email and/or phone for the social service;
- Supporting social workers in developing user-friendly leaflets and brochures on key topics frequently dealt with by the service;
- Updating and maintaining the guide of community resources in Brussels and Strasbourg;
- Data analysis, statistics, and creation of graphics for social service reports;
- Helping with PowerPoint presentations;
- Participating in Social Workers’ and Medical Service meetings;
- Performing other general administrative tasks related to the social service.

The candidate trainee must have a high degree of flexibility and the ability to carry out different tasks in parallel.
The position requires:
- Strong listening and communication skills;
- A high degree of confidentiality (medical secrecy and data protection);
- Rigour, organisation, and good interpersonal skills;
- A good command of computer applications is essential;
- For functional reasons, a very good knowledge of English or French (spoken and written); a very good knowledge of both languages is a strong asset;
- Knowledge of or experience in psychosocial issues or social services is an important advantage;
- The candidate must hold a diploma in Social Work.
